Acai Berry63

Acai Berry is a towering tree which grows in the Amazon Rainforest of Brazil. It has a thin and long trunk of the palm stretches twenty five meters high in the air so it is also known as an acai palm.

There is a group of leafy branches on its top. These trees are packed with a large number of berries twice in a year. These berries are dark purple and small in size. These are a huge part of native diet.

Usually these berries are produced by a courageous person who can climb upon the tree for cutting the branches; but in the present time the acai berry is harvested by small rural community of farmers, in a large scale. Because of its very short life span, of twenty four hours these berries must be harvested into baskets then loaded on the boats and ships to the markets.
